Easter weekend started with an Amazing Race for Te Aroha Pa whanau which kicked off on Saturday. Each team had to have a kaumatua, matua, tamariki\mokopuna. 6 Teams were entered, and competition was fierce as we searched for the 1st Team to take out the inaugural Amazing Race. With fourteen clues scattered around Kai Iwi, from the School to the Beach, Botanical gardens and a couple of local farms, the teams had to locate each clue, solve the clue and then head to the next destination to continue the race. Once all the Teams returned to the Marae, they had to complete a number of team challenges including a water challenge, petanque, ping pong and sing a team song in order to earn more points and hopefully take out the competition. With that all said – Thank you to Rose for organising a great event, all of the team participants and last but not least – A big congratulations to the PURPLE TEAM for taking out the Amazing Race 2023.
